Like Rip Van Winkle, awake after a long absence - DigiChallenge 18

After a very long absence, Take Out Paper Arts returns to the blogging scene. 

My re-entry was inspired by the wonderful DigiChallenges hosted by the Stampin' Pretty Pals. 

Here are my entries for the current contest.  

Three fine young adults that I know and care about a lot are graduating high school this month. Needless to say, they are counting the days. So, I made them each a Graduation Countdown Calendar to help the days pass more quickly.  

Staying within the DigiChallenge theme, I slightly modified each one. They hang around together, so each of the Calendars will be carefully compared. 

CONGRATULATIONS Tiernan, Jasmine and Raoul!  You did it!

PPA 123 Challenge Puttin' on the Ritz & BLOG CANDY Extravaganza!

My card is reminscent of a boutinniere for a formal event that even Fred Astaire could wear. I had great fun creating it! I got to use some items that aren't in my typical "go to" stash, so it was fun to pull them out.

I think I'll end up using this as a Holiday Card for a special friend. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Embellishments: Jumbo Brads 5/8" Whisper White, Basic Rhinestones Jewels

Put together, this is a clean and simple card that packs some punch. Have fun!

PPA 122 - Color Challenge & Have a Seat

Welcome to Take Out Paper Arts where the focus is on clean, trendy and simple Stampin' Up projects  

 

This week's color challenge has a dynamite combination of colors -- Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke and Very Vanilla.  Quite dynamic and fun.

I wasn't quite in the mood to do a holiday card and needed a card for a friend who is going through some rough times to let him know I was there. So I subdued the colors a bit and used very little of the Cherry Cobbler and more of the Always Artichoke.

BUT........there was a problem!! I went to my stash of card stock and yikes! I was out of Always Artichoke! What was I going to do? My nearest Pretty Pal is more than 100 miles away, so that was out of the question. Finally, I figured it out -- My Digital Studio!!  I printed out a sheet of Always Artichoke card stock from My Digital Studio. So technically, this is a hybrid card.

I played with texture by using the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder in two different directions to give the card so depth. The brads add a little interest without too much bling.

PPA 121 Challenge - Take a Look at the Luxury of Pearls!

First, Happy Thanksgiving to all Take Out Paper Artists. I hope you are surrounded by family, friends and happiness today.

Another fun challenge to contemplate as you relax after Thanksgiving dinner!  I just love the Basic Pearls that Stampin' Up! has available. They add that special wow factor to a card and make it that much more special. Our challenge was to use pearls imaginatively.

As a "clean and simple" gal, I knew I had to figure out a way to highlight pearls and still stay pretty simple. Out came the trusty Big Shot and I used the Lattice BigZ Die, a couple of colors of cardstock, and there was my card!!

You can finish this card and still be ready to go for Black Friday!  Have Fun!

Pals Paper Arts Challenge PPA 120 - A Great Sketch and Paisley Petals

 

Welcome to Take Out Paper Arts where the focus is on clean, trendy and simple Stampin' Up projects  

Welcome to the Pals Paper Arts Challenge 120 which features a great sketch that could be used every day for a month and none of the cards would look the same! As a matter of fact, I ended up making four cards from this sketch because I had two birthdays, a thank you note and a get well card to mail out before the weekend!

I wanted a Designer Series Paper that was versatile enough for all four cards that I needed. Paisley Petals fit the bill. It coordinates with eleven (!) different colors, so it was very easy to find the perfect color combation for each card.

PPA 117 Challenge -- Ribbon and a MDS Rainbow!

 

Welcome to Take Out Paper Arts where the focus is on clean, trendy and simple Stampin' Up projects  

Welcome to the Pals Paper Arts Challenge 117 on Ribbon.

Ribbon --- just the word makes me shake in fear!  Of all the stamping embellishments, ribbon is the one that scares me the most.  I love the colors and the variety and the texture, but it doesn't seem to like me. 

So, I sat down in the craft space and thought and thought and thought.......and nothing happened.  Then it came to me.. MY DESIGN STUDIO (MDS).  I could do a ribbon card without touching ribbon!

Voila! Here is my rainbow ribbon card using My Design Studio. It's my first total MDS card and I liked how quick and easy it was (espically the NO ribbon part!).

To add some interest, I used the Medallion background stamp and really made it very transparent so there's just a hint of it there.
